Kisling, Moshe
Born: January 22, 1891in Cracow (Austro-Hungarian Empire) as Mojżesz Kisling.
Died: April 29, 1953 in Bandol, France.
He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow. He moved to Paris in 1910 at the age of 19, and became a French citizen in 1915, after serving and being wounded with the French Foreign Legion in World War I. He left for the United States in 1940, because of his Jewish background and returned in 1946. His work is in various public museum collections, including at the Harvard Art Museums (Boston), the British Museum (London) and the Metropolitan Museum of Art (New York).
